What Is Firraksnarre?

Firraksnarre is a long-form, multi-layered fantasy world developed over many years. It is not a single novel or campaign setting, but a constructed civilization: a world with its own history, languages, religions, political structures, and evolving eras.

At its core, Firraksnarre explores how cultures rise and fall across centuries. Dynasties expand and collapse, heroes emerge and are forgotten, and languages shift as empires fracture and reform. The world is built diachronically — meaning that history, linguistic change, and cultural transformation are treated as real structural forces rather than background decoration.

Language plays a central role in the world’s design. Multiple constructed language families exist within Firraksnarre, each with its own phonology, grammar, and historical development. These languages are not ornamental; they shape identity, ritual, politics, and narrative.

The world is expressed across different media. Some parts appear as epic narratives, others as tabletop campaign settings, films, music, or linguistic documentation. All of these elements exist within a shared internal chronology.

How the World Is Organised

  • The history of Firraksnarre is divided into nine major eras.
  • Languages belong to dozens of langauge families, and evolve across time.
  • There are stories that take place inside and outside the Firraksnarre universe, the latter of which is termed the ‘Hic Mundus stories’.
